JENNIFER’S PROFILE

"I grew up on a farm and I have a lot of background with the agricultural community", says Jennifer Thompson, Agriculture Manager for Bonduelle in Ontario. "For me, to be working in agriculture, it's not about a decision of where I work and how I work there. It's because I love what I do and I have a lot of passion about working with growers and working with crops."

FEED THE WORLD

One of the things Jennifer is proud of is "being able to grow something to feed the world. And to be part of the food production cycle, it's very rewarding, it's very intriguing to be part of every season and see the changes and the evolution in agriculture.

The thing that makes me the most proud is being able to go to work every day, and being able to go to a grower's farm and work, walk with him and look at his crop and know that we both took part in growing that crop, that we both had a piece of that puzzle. And then, if we're diagnosing something, you know, just coming up with the solution and trying to find something that'll help us along the way, to make sure the most successful outcome is had at the end of the season."

WORKING WITH CHALLENGES

"One of my main challenges is the weather. Every year, we plan to have a certain amount of volume produced to serve our customers, and every year we're challenged by the weather. We have to make decisions that will help us to advance in agricultural technology, to advance the productivity of the fields, and really help us move forward, so that together with our growers, we can grow the best crops possible."

HOW AGTIV^® HELPS MOVING FORWARD 

"Working with Premier Tech and using the AGTIV^® PEA product, we've been able to reduce the stress in the plants, and we're able to see visual results and scientific results in yield increases to be able to answer our challenges and hopefully help us through those stressful weather periods throughout the growing season.

Our main end goal, using the AGTIV^® products, was to increase yield and have better productivity from the field. So, if we can increase our yield, our growers are happier, Bonduelle is happy, everybody wins. We get good product at the end of the day.

And then throughout that journey, we've also been able to push it into other aspects of our business, to see if it helps with root rot issues and with field stress in a drought scenario, if it can help us with our disease pressure. We've looked at many different things throughout the cycle of using the product."

BENEFITS FOR BONDUELLE AND ITS GROWERS

"The product application that we have experienced so far has been very positive. We often are dealing with the growers when they're planting and helping them and assisting them to make sure that they can do a good job seeding. Really an easy product to work with.

The results we've seen with AGTIV^® have really been amazing. We've been able to actually see that increased nodulation on the roots, by doing root digs in season, and being able to validate that we did something different on this field, and you can see what's going on.

We've been very happy to see the increases visually, and also we've seen productivity increases in our final yield results. Putting that together we've been very pleased with what we've seen so far using the AGTIV^® product on our crops."
